Portrait of visual artist Kelebogile Marope

Kelebogile Marope is a visual artist based in Gaborone, Botswana. Her practice investigates memory, domesticity, material culture, and lived experience.

Working across installation, painting, sculpture, and mixed media, Marope explores how everyday objects and spaces become repositories of personal and collective histories.

Through repetition, imprinting, accumulation, and material transformation, her works reflect on traces of human presence and the ways memory becomes embedded within objects, environments, and acts of daily life.

Domestic implements, architectural plans, stains, heat, and contact become a visual language through which familiar forms are detached from function and opened to alternative readings.
